Connor’s shocking meeting with his sister at The Lux leads to even more shocking information, when Charlotte tells Connor that their mother died two years ago. Heavy.
Abby and Connor run into each other at The Lux and Connor introduces her to Abby, who points out that they look very different. Charlotte begins to get defensive and Abby takes off before another blonde can throw her into the pool.
Charlotte wants to prove that she’s Connor’s sister and takes him to get a DNA test. While they’re waiting, Connor sees that Charlotte is a cutter, a self-harmer like him. Connor takes Charlotte to the set and shows her around, but when they get to Connor’s trailer Charlotte begins crying about their mother. She didn’t die, but instead killed herself over being unable to forgive herself for leaving Connor. Super heavy.
The DNA results arrive really, really fast and show that Charlotte is in fact Connor’s sister. Huh. I thought for sure she was lying. Connor is overjoyed and so is Charlotte, who wants to do something nice for her brother. That includes getting him off his anti-depressants and introducing him to the Church of Scientology. Sorry, Scienetics. I see what you did there, L.A. Complex.
Raquel begins her morning on the wrong side of the pool when an adoring fan turns out to be a law clerk who serves her with a lawsuit. She can’t be that shocked about being sued after the Producer of Celebrity Half Way House told Raquel she would sue her if she left the show early, which she in fact did.
In an attempt to rid herself of the lawsuits, Raquel decides to file for bankruptcy. As soon as she thinks her fortune is about to change, Raquel gets a call from her agent. He’s firing her, saying that because she walked off the set she can’t be insured, meaning no studio will hire her.
Raquel tries drinking her sorrows away at a local bar and when she can’t pay her tab, she hires herself as a waitress. Raquel turns out to be a terrible waitress, but her attitude makes for a great bartender and the cute restaurant owner hires her on the spot, giving her a ‘restart’.
After her first unofficial shift at the restaurant is over, Raquel goes home to The Lux and runs into Kevin, who tells her that Ellen Page is out of their movie, giving Raquel motivation for her restart. She suggests that they go back to making the film together, but this time do a low budget version.
Paul F. Tompkins storms into the writer’s room and begins a witch hunt after one of the cleaners found cocaine in the writer’s bathroom. Nick knows that the drugs belong to Scott, but Scott is busy blaming everyone but himself.
Scott pulls Nick into his office and tells him that Paul thinks he’s in recovery and can’t admit to the drugs being his. Instead, he wants Nick to take the heat or else he’s fired.
Nick goes into Paul’s office and tells him that the cocaine is his, but Paul doesn’t believe that Nick is cool enough or has enough money to do cocaine. Unfortunately, Paul finally buys the act and fires Nick. No big shock there.
Nick storms into the writer’s room and in front of the rest of the staff yells at Scott, telling him to get Nick his job back. Nick realizes that Scott is not going to help, so Nick takes out all his anger and calls Scott out on no longer being funny. When Scott makings a comment about Sabrina, Nick is pushed too far and punches Scott. I’m against violence, but I’m more against people not taking responsibility. Good job, Nick.
Nick is feeling down and for once, Sabrina does a reasonably good job of being nice and making him feel better. Good job, Sabrina.
Beth drops Simon off at his Bill Nye call back and reluctantly agrees to leave him at the studio for the day. She finally leaves when she sees that her dad is calling and continues to avoid his calls. Back at The Lux, Beth and Cam are helping bikini girl (what is her name?) study for her SAT’s and Cam realizes that Beth is a genius.
This, as with all discoveries of superior intelligence, leads to jumping in a pool fully clothed making out. I’m pretty sure Einstein did a lot of this in his day. Cam tells Beth that she’s amazing and they finally kiss, making their way out of the pool and into Beth’s bed.
Their first time is interrupted by Simon knocking at the door after being driven home by the casting agent. Beth, who lost track of time, loses her cool and screams at Simon for getting in a car with a stranger, when really she’s mad at herself.
Kaldrick has hired his lawyer to find Tariq in Montreal, but Tariq seems to be working hard at disappearing. Since his lawyer has found nothing, Kaldrick confronts Abby and asks whether she’s heard from Tariq. When Abby gets suspicious, Kaldrick chickens out of telling Abby about Tariq and instead asks her to sign backing vocals on his new song.
Kaldrick and Abby show up to the studio late and Dynasty freaks out on Kal, but they go forward and get Abby to sing anyways. After it becomes apparent that Abby’s vocals aren’t working with the song that never needed vocals, Dynasty walks out of the studio.
Abby calls Grey for support and the two DTR and decide that they are dating. Hot!
When it’s just Abby and Kal in the studio she tries asking about Tariq again and Kal finally lets his guard down and tells Abby that he beat Tariq. Abby begins fighting Kaldrick herself and finally runs out of the studio.
